Welcome back to Agentic Coding Weekly. Here are the updates on agentic coding tools, models, and workflows for the week of Oct 25 - 31, 2026.

1. Tool and Model Updates

Gemini 4 Carbon and GPT 6.1 Terra are new model releases last week.

  • Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon.

    • Not sure what naming scheme they have decided to adopt but seems to be the improved checkpoint of the same pro model. Previous release was Gemini 4 Argon.

    • Ranks #1 on artificial analysis intelligence index beating Opus 5.5, but, the model isn't publicly released.

  • OpenAI brought back Terra model, GPT 6.1 Terra is here. $1 / $5 per million input / output tokens.

  • Mistral Large 4 (1T, A52B) is now open-weights.

  • Every ~30 seconds, Claude Code re-sends each background agent's full transcript to the model just to fill that agent's status line in the agents panel. Burns ~15–20% of tokens on a 3-word status line. Analysis and fix.

  • Starting in December, Plus, Pro, and Business plans' usage limits for ChatGPT and Codex are merging. So far, ChatGPT usage didn't count towards codex usage limits.

  • Claude Code VS Code extension on Cursor marketplace was compromised.

  • StackOverflow now gets fewer than 1000 questions a month.

Here's the current state of coding benchmarks:

2. Open Source Corner

  1. herdr-app - Herdr now has a desktop app for linux and mac

  2. Prospero - a GUI coding agent

3. Reading List

  1. HackerTube - a YouTube like UI from Andrej Karpathy but the videos are the ones recommended by HN. Blog post.

  2. Qwenputer - a fully functioning, deterministic RISC-V CPU inside Qwen3.5

  3. How I Built the Most AI-Pilled Company in the World - 10 people, spends 30x payroll on AI tokens

If you found this useful, forward it to one friend/colleague who’d probably want to read it too. Got this forwarded to you? Subscribe here.

That’s it for this week. I’ll be back next Monday with the latest agentic coding updates.
